Talk Show
Regarded as one of the UK’s most promising new bands, south London four-piece Talk Show burst onto the scene in 2017 with a string of acclaimed singles and explosive live shows. Their debut EP, ‘These People’, received international acclaim when it was released in March 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the band continued to evolve creatively, abandoning their brash post-punk for a fierce vision of guitar-driven dance music. Their success has propelled them onto the festival scene, from Pitchfork Avant-Garde to Sonic Wave, and their second EP, ‘Touch The Ground’, received four stars from the NME critics on its release in 2022.
‘Effigy’, Talk Show’s highly anticipated debut full-length album, is a bold and exhilarating showcase of the band’s dramatic evolution. Drawing inspiration from The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails and KLF, they have created a raw, primal sound that fuses techno, electronica, industrial and rock music. Their songs are driven by searing guitars and explosive drums. Frontman Harrison Swann’s hypnotic vocals rely on repetition and restraint, creating a singular experience in the midst of swirling sonic chaos. Effigy conjures up the image of a dark, clammy warehouse full of moving bodies, expressing heat, desire, anxiety, release, ecstasy and despair.
