After having to cancel their entire 2025 tour earlier this year due to visa issues, 1914 are set to go back on the road next year for a massive 33 show trek. Their mix of black, death and doom will be accompanied by Danish Katla‘s brand new sludgy, stoner release Scandinavian Pain.
If you’ve somehow never heard of 1914 before, they’re one of the current flagbearers of Ukrainian metal. They play music with a single goal, not to warmonger or glorify war, but to document one of History’s most bloody periods, World War I. The five-piece’s stage presence and shows bring an unbelievable emotional weight, sending you straight into the chaos of mud-filled trenches. With Viribus Unitis, their 4th effort, 1914 shifted their focus slightly, from the raw portrayal of death and destruction to themes of camaraderie, endurance, and the emotional landscapes of those who endured the horrors. It continues building on top their unmistakeable sound with a broader dynamic range, soaring melodic leads, orchestral textures, and haunting clean vocals that provide dramatic contrast to the crushing heaviness.
See you on the battlefield of Kortrijk’s DVG Club on the 15th of April.
