Eivør

Eivør, born in the Faroe Islands, draws inspiration from the rugged landscape and rich folk culture of her homeland. The Faroe Islands, a semi-autonomous region within Denmark, have a history of foreign rule, but their traditions have remained intact, mainly through communal singing and dancing. This cultural resilience is at the heart of Eivør’s music.

Growing up in a small village between steep cliffs and green hills, she developed her own raw singing style, influenced by beatboxing, throat singing, and heavy metal growls. Her music reflects the extremes of Faroese nature—from dark winters to bright summers. She broke through as a teenager with Faroese folk pop, but later experimented with jazz, rock, and electronic music. Her album “Larva” marked a drastic break in style, as she let go of labels and forged her own path.

In 2021, Eivør received the Nordic Council Music Prize, and her influence continues to grow. Her latest album, ENN, written in a remote Faroese mountain village, combines classical music, cinematic structures, and electronic beats. Themes such as connection to the earth and human nature are central.

In addition to her own albums, Eivør composes for films, TV series, and games, including The Last Kingdom and God of War. Her music transcends genres, but she feels at home in the metal community due to a shared pagan vibe. In 2025, she will tour again and take Ásgeir with her as a special guest.
