Guitar Wolf
Formed in 1987 in Nagasaki, Japanese rock band Guitar Wolf have a simple motto: play ‘faster and louder’. A guitar-bass-drums trio, made up of Seiji (Guitar Wolf), GOTZ (Bass Wolf) and Takuro (Drum Wolf) respectively, they are the guardians of all the explosive, noisy, saturated songs of a pure and simple rock’n’roll spirit. Combining the raw energy of the Ramones, the hyperactive exhilaration of the genre, guitar approximations and authentic experience, Guitar Wolf deliver unforgettable and legendary live moments. Their commitment to chainsaw-rusted rock’n’roll is so absolute that it has rallied a host of unconditional admirers for some thirty years.
If their previous and thirteenth album ‘LOVE&JETT’ (2019) didn’t change its main recipe in any way; tracks rarely exceeding three minutes and an infectious energy leaking out of them, incorporating influences ranging from surf to garage-punk to rockabilly, their latest release is on a completely different level. The Japanese trio discover themselves in an even more gloriously abrasive state with ‘BLACK LEATHER BOMB LIVE at WWWX’ (2023), a visceral live album recorded in Shibuya, Japan. The recording captures the final performance of their drummer, Tōru, a member of the band since 1991. Don’t miss this honest, unchained and… second-degree experience.
