Frontwoman Anouska Sokolow, with bassist Tim Curtis and drummer Yuri Shibuici, forms your favourite new band: Honeyglaze. The trio brings their reflections on life in a subdued way and with shrewd lyrics. The band was picked up by the tone-setting Speedy Wundreground and thus falls within the scene of London post-punk. Yet musically, Honeyglaze sounds just a little more light-hearted and playful. Associations with Big Thief, Dry Cleaning and the Last Dinner Party quickly bubble to the surface after a listening session. On their latest new album ‘Real Deal’, Sokolow translates her experiences as a young adult into witty lyrics. A little deadpan, a little danceable, Honeyglaze puts a sweet layer over the everyday.
