Spectral Wound (+ Dudsekop)
SPECTRAL WOUND :
The Canadian band Spectral Wound plays black metal. Visceral and furious, nihilistic, pitch-black, and intense. The band isn’t interested in innovation or cross-pollination but instead pursues an orthodox interpretation of the genre. Expect razor-sharp old-school black metal with rattling blast beats, cutting riffs, and scorching tremolo picking.
Although Spectral Wound is considered part of the ‘Métal noir Québécois’ scene, their screams are not in French but in English, and they primarily draw inspiration from the sound of the Scandinavian classics of the ‘90s. They do it better, faster, and more pulverizing than most of their contemporaries – and with a reputation for incredibly tight live shows on top of that.
On their latest album ‘Songs Of Blood and Mire’ (Profound Lore – 2024), Spectral Wound once again passionately sings of the void of existence and the dawning end times on this decaying planet. Strap in for the rollercoaster to hell and let yourself be shaken to the core by this Canadian brood of adders.
DUDSEKOP :
Dudsekop is a blackened metal band with metalcore influences from Ypres, founded in 2021 by H8000 veteran Josh Fury (King Hiss, Liar, Congress). Their “West-Flemish koavezworte metal” is pitch-black, crushing, and unconventional.
