The Devil Wears Prada Proved Their Eternal Status at Trix!

The iconic American band The Devil Wears Prada were back in Europe on February 15, 2025 for a headlining tour, announced while they were still supporting LANDMVRKS on their European tour back in May 2024. Now back in Antwerp with their Eternal Tour, the American band set the Trix ablaze with a highly effective, sold-out show, proving once again their undeniable presence on the metalcore scene. The band weren’t alone, as they were joined by an explosive line-up including : Senna, Ocean Grove – replacing SeeYouSpaceCowboy – and Kingdom of Giants, for support!

Senna: An emotional glow at the heart of metalcore

To kick off the evening, the band Senna first performed on stage. This young German band opened the evening with their self-described modern metalcore infused with raw emotion. Although their stage presence seemed to me to exude a certain restraint, their performance didn’t displease the audience any less! The band’s cohesion is undeniable. Without necessarily knowing their background, the band manages to communicate a certain solar side which is felt both in their music and in their stage presence. It’s only when you see them that you really grasp the meaning of their name. Indeed, it’s no coincidence that they chose the word Senna, which means “ brightness, shine or glow” in Arabic, to represent them! During their opening, Senna performed the latest songs they’ve written such as ‘Blackout’ or ‘High Note’, as well as their first track ‘Rosehip‘ and ‘Lavender’, enough to appeal to the widest possible audience.

Ocean Grove: when the new wave of nu metal sweeps over us!

Ocean Grove emerged as the revelation of the evening. In fact, the Australian band was not the one originally scheduled when the main line-up was announced. They therefore replaced SeeYouSpaceCowboy. While some may have been disappointed by this last-minute change, Ocean Grove quickly won over the crowd once they took to the stage!

During their set, the band mainly promoted their new album, ODDWORLD, which was released in November 2024. Tracks such as ‘RAINDROP’, ‘MY DISASTER’ and ‘LAST DANCE’, found on this album, were enough to set the room on fire. The tracks mentioned are fairly representative of the universe in which Ocean Grove thrives. Strongly inspired by the 2000s, each song immerses us in a soft nostalgia while at the same time offering us a breath of fresh air that’s more than enjoyable! It’s clear that their stage presence pays homage to the nu-metal of the 2000s, an atmosphere that obviously speaks to a whole generation and even more. This throwback to the sounds of that era clearly caught on with the audience, whose enthusiasm was more than palpable.

For his part, vocalist Dale Tanner more than excelled in his role as frontman, bringing the crowd together with natural ease. But what made their performance even more authentic was the space given to the other band members. Each of them was given the opportunity to perform, adding even more dynamism and control to a more than vibrant performance.

Kingdom of Giants: where brutality meets melody!

We’ve now reached the third band of the evening! While we had previously been offered modern metalcore and new-metal, Kingdom of Giants took us into a world more influenced by post-harcore and metalcore. More aggressive, the band mainly played tracks from their latest album Passenger, released in 2020. They also performed sounds such as ‘Asphalt‘, ‘Wasted Space‘ and ‘Scorpion‘, straight from their new Bleeding Star EP released in 2024.

While it can be a challenge for some bands to transform the energy of a room when different metal sub-genres collide, American band Kingdom of Giants succeeded perfectly in taking us into their universe. So it was without a hitch that the audience embraced the band’s heavy yet melodic sound. During their set, every member of the band came into their own, especially drummer Truman Berlin, whose motivation was more than evident. Lead singer Dana Willax also captivated the audience with his vocal talent, not hesitating to leave his microphone behind and scream at the top of his lungs! There’s no doubt that this raw intensity intensified their performance and warmed up the crowd, who more than let themselves be carried away as soon as the first notes of ‘Bleach‘ and ‘Wayfinder‘ rang out!

The Devil Wears Prada showed us they’re still growing—and they’re here to stay!

Enriched by over two decades of experience, The Devil Wears Prada never ceases to bring a breath of fresh air and to excel in delivering emotionally-charged shows. Barely a year after coming to Europe as a support band on LANDMVRKS‘ European tour, the band kept their promise to return to Belgium, but this time as headliners at Trix! Interestingly, this new date in Antwerp also marked their last stop before a series of concerts in the UK, a final opportunity for Belgian audiences to enjoy their intense performance.

Although their setlist was mostly based on tracks from their latest album, Color Decay (released in 2022), the show was highly colorful. Between well-placed quiet moments with tracks like ‘Broken‘, ‘Noise‘ and ‘Sacrifice‘, and fiery tracks like ‘Danger: Wildman‘, ‘Dez Moines‘ and ‘Termination‘ – genuine metalcore anthems – the pit never stopped boiling. To the audience’s delight, the band also drew from other of their multiple albums, offering fans a time travel retracing their musical evolution. This decision not only allows us to understand their artistic trajectory, but also the direction in which the band intends to move. This set, alternating between ultra-energetic passages and calmer ones, allowed fans to rediscover the essence of the band, while at the same time taking a more futuristic view of modern, unifying metalcore.

Loyal to their reputation, The Devil Wears Prada delivered an immaculate performance, once again showcasing their technical virtuosity and stage talent. The only exception was a slightly slippery floor which caused Jeremy DePoyster – vocalist and guitarist – to fall, an incident quickly forgotten as the band carried on without a hitch. When seeing them live, you immediately perceive the warmth that characterizes their sound. The band’s ability and ease to create an atmosphere that is both ethereal and brutal during their show is also strongly felt, a duality that almost becomes the source of their power and gives them an authentic scenic personality.
