Japanese metalcore frontrunners Crystal Lake return with a defining statement in 2026 as they release their seventh studio album, The Weight of Sound, out now worldwide via Century Media Records.
The Weight of Sound finds Crystal Lake at their most ambitious and emotionally charged. The album marks the band’s first full-length release with vocalist John, who joined in 2023, and captures a lineup fully locked into a bold new era. Sonically, the record stretches Crystal Lakes core sound further than ever before, seamlessly blending razor-edged metalcore with deathcore heaviness, atmospheric electronics, and expansive melodic moments.

The release is accompanied by a new music video for the focus track ”Everblack’ featuring David Simonich (Signs of the swarm) , reinforcing the album’s crushing weight and modern edge.
Guitarist and founder YD shares about the album:
This record is a crossover masterpiece, infused with the years of experience and the attitude we’ve forged together. It’s a convergence of diverse styles that defines the present-day Crystal Lake. We invite you to immerse yourselves in our ever-evolving world.
Vocalist John adds:
This whole new album is about the ups and downs of my life. The most personal I’ve ever been on a record. A lot of the lyrics reference each other. I wouldn’t call it conceptual, but it’s definitely a poetic diary-esque journey into my life. I cried writing 80% of these songs. I died a little bit again with each word. As I wrote, I relived. This is the real me. The story of a man you love to hate. Enjoy.
