We’re Looking for Contributors: Join our Alt Music Team!
Are you obsessed with the alternative music scene? Do you get excited about new sounds, underground artists, or live shows that leave you buzzing for days? Founded in April 2022, we’re a new independent media outlet based in Belgium, with coverage extending to Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Our content focuses primarily on alternative music, but we also explore indie music and touch on the mainstream scene. If you’re passionate about documenting and sharing the world of music, whether you’re experienced or just starting out, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
We’re currently looking for contributors to fill the following roles:
Photographers
- Do you like concerts, music, and taking photos? Are you always at the fence to get the best shots? Have you always wanted to go into the photopit? If that sounds like you, we need photographers who have an eye for detail and can bring the energy and atmosphere of concerts to life through photos.
- Love capturing the electrifying moments of live performances? Attend local shows, festivals, and larger gigs across Belgium, Germany, France, and the Netherlands, building a portfolio that showcases both major acts and emerging talents.
- While experience with concert photography is a plus, we also welcome beginners with a passion for live music and a willingness to learn. Access to your own camera gear is essential.
Interviewers
- Have you always wanted to ask questions about the work of artists, and are you comfortable meeting them? You’re interested in musicians’ work, their opinions, and their intentions. Come and ask your best questions by joining us.
- Whether it’s a rising underground band or an established artist, your job will be to capture their journey, inspirations, and future projects in an authentic way.
- Strong communication skills are a must, but beginners who are eager to develop their interviewing style are welcome!
Live Show Reporters
- Concerts are your favorite pastime, and you can’t wait to share your experiences with the world. Are you comfortable describing what happens on stage and in the crowd? If so, we would like to share your experiences with everyone. We’re looking for concert reporters who can provide vivid, detailed reviews of live performances.
- Reporters will attend shows in Belgium and neighboring countries, giving readers a sense of the atmosphere, the crowd, the setlists, and the overall experience.
- Whether you’re experienced in writing live reports or just getting started, if you’re passionate about live music, we’d love to hear from you.
Album Reviewers
- Can you break down an album, critique its sound, and give an honest, thoughtful review? We’re looking for writers with a keen ear to provide in-depth reviews of the latest releases.
- Beginners who are excited to hone their review-writing skills are encouraged to apply. If you have opinions on music and a drive to share them, we can help you develop your voice.
News Writers
- Are you always the first to know when a new single drops, a tour is announced, or an artist makes headlines? Join our team of news writers to keep our readers informed on the latest happenings in the alternative music world.
- We’re looking for writers who can spot a story, research it, and quickly write accurate, compelling news pieces. Whether it’s an album release, a festival announcement, or breaking industry news, you’ll help us stay up-to-date with the fast-paced world of music.
- Beginners with a passion for music news and solid research skills are welcome to apply!
What We’re Offering:
- Your work will be featured on our website and social channels, with opportunities for your name and portfolio to reach a wider audience.
- Perfect for anyone looking to break into music journalism, photography, or writing, you’ll be able to build your portfolio while working with a passionate team of music lovers.
- Be part of a collective that celebrates alternative music and its many subcultures. You’ll have the chance to collaborate with other contributors and connect with the artists and insiders shaping the scene.
- Free acces to live shows and some festivals.
Please note that CtrlAltMusic is fully run by volunteers and cannot offer financial compensation for any of the positions mentioned in this recruitment post.
