Ash + The Subways
ASH
Ash are today announcing their first new album together in more than five years, and sharing a new single alongside news of an upcoming UK / EU tour. Race The Night, the band’s eighth studio album, will be released on 15th September 2023 via one of their earliest label homes Fierce Panda. With 29 years, 18 hit singles, seven studio albums and an unfathomable number of tour dates since their appearance on the label’s 1994 Crazed And Confused compilation, Race The Night is both a party with old friends and a message to leap into the present with arms wide open.
Ash will also be taking Race The Night on tour through the UK and Europe before the year is out, on a co-headline run with The Subways.
THE SUBWAYS
The Subways’ adventure began in 2003, when brothers Billy Lunn and Josh Morgan and their friend Charlotte Copper started rehearsing the songs they were learning on guitar, drums and bass respectively. They soon began writing their own songs, performing at small local venues, investing in recording equipment, joining the line-up at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival and releasing a debut album in 2005.
In January 2023, the London trio returned with their fifth album, Uncertain Joy. Like many artists, The Subways took advantage of confinement to write and record a large part of this project, whose sounds recall the band’s early days and its memorable guitar riffs, while leaving room for innovation. In particular, the introduction of a synthesiser makes Uncertain Joy the most varied album in the band’s discography.
