Dehd
A trio formed in 2015 in Chicago, Dehd consists of Emily Kempf, Jason Balla and Eric McGrady. After making their mark in 2020 with their third album ‘Flower of Devotion’, the trio signed to the Fat Possum label and released their fourth album ‘Blue Skies’ in 2022. For this fifth album in their 9-year career, they decided to transform their creative process. It was while on a road trip in a van full of recording equipment, heading for New Mexico, the Puget Sound, Montana and finally Chicago, that the band wrote ‘Poetry’.
With a tireless sense of adventure that ideally defines the band, this new opus was then worked on in the studio with Ziyad Asrar (Whitney), marking their first collaboration with an outsider. With 14 tracks, ‘Poetry’ draws equally on upbeat indie rock and melancholy pop, with a common theme of love and heartbreak, which they manage to make appealing.
After a cancelled concert at the Botanique in 2022, Dehd will finally be taking us on a musical journey for an unforgettable evening.
