The debut album, Dragging the Needlework for the Kids at Uphole, earned the London quintet Index For Working Musik a cult status and was praised by critics for its post-industrial and gothic post-Velvet Underground psychedelia. Their latest album, When Direction Goes The Beam (Tough Love), builds on this foundation with powerful songs and a fresh sound driven by dark guitar drones, hypnotic cello tones, and interwoven vocal lines.
