Inspired by Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Toro y Moi and Lana Del Rey, London rapper Jeshi made a name for himself in 2017 with the mixtape ‘The World’s Spinning Too Fast’, on which he collaborated with Mura Masa. Jeshi’s music may seem far removed from his influences, but it’s no less diverse. Halfway between British drill and underground American hip-hop, his debut album ‘Universal Credit’ gave him real credibility with the international press, who compared him to The Streets and Dizzee Rascal.
A little sinister but above all funny, Jeshi presents his experience of the East End of London with incisive frankness, rapping with humour and accuracy about the biggest economic crisis Britain has seen since the 1950s. With ‘Temple’, his latest single on which he collaborates with Fredwave and Elijah Waters, Jeshi confirms that he is one of the UK’s hottest rappers of the moment.
