Suzanne Vega
Five years after Suzanne Vega enchanted De Roma with an unforgettable concert, the grande dame of folk pop returns to Borgerhout. As the figurehead of the folk revival in the early eighties, Suzanne Vega is still praised as one of the best songwriters of her generation. With her poetic view of the world, she pours stories of city life and ordinary people into witty, pure songs that are still as recognisable and profound as ever.
Live in our charming venue, Suzanne Vega will present her new album An Evening of New York Songs and Stories, on which she pays a heartfelt tribute to her beloved hometown. The album features twenty-four New York-inspired songs from her repertoire, recorded during a session in the famous New York bar Café Carlyle. Besides hits like Luka, Tom’s Diner and Marlene on the Wall, lesser-known gems like Frank and Ava and Ludlow Street are also featured. The legendary Walk on the Wild Side by her late friend Lou Reed couldn’t be missed either.
On stage, Suzanne Vega is joined by her faithful guitarist Gerry Leonard, bassist Jeff Allen and keyboard player Jamie Edwards.
