The 15 big shows not to miss in Belgium in September 2024 !

Choosing from the hundreds of concerts taking place in Belgium each month to create a list is nearly impossible. For this new season, we’ve decided to feature two separate lists: The first, titled ‘Big Shows,’ will cover concerts in venues with a capacity of over 1,000. The second, named ‘Local Scene,’ will spotlight smaller venues and local promoters, showcasing performances by local artists as well as international acts. Without further ado, here is our selection of the 15 Big Shows not to be missed in Belgium in September 2024.

1. RUSS – Ancienne Belgique – 09 September

An iconic figure on the international hip-hop scene, RUSS will kick off the Ancienne Belgique season with what promises to be an electrifying show. The 31-year-old multi-platinum rapper and producer, who hasn’t performed in Belgium since Rock Werchter 2018, will be showcasing his latest album, Santiago, released in 2023—perhaps his most introspective and moving work to date. An artist you absolutely must see live.

2. The Pretenders – OM – 14 September / Cirque Royale – 15 September

The Pretenders are back in Belgium, bringing their classic rock sound to OM and Cirque Royale. With a career spanning several decades, Chrissie Hynde and her bandmates will present a setlist filled with timeless hits such as ‘I’ll Stand by You,’ ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong,’ ‘Back on the Chain Gang,’ and ‘Kid.’ The band made their comeback last year with their twelfth studio album, Relentless, and had the opportunity to showcase it live this summer at Rock Werchter! This is a rare chance to experience rock royalty in two fantastic venues.

3. Heilung – Lotto Arena – 15 September

Heilung’s show at the Lotto Arena promises to be an extraordinary journey into the past. Since their formation in 2015, this mysterious collective has sought to take audiences on a melodious voyage through their unique and enigmatic music. Their immersive performances, which blend ancient sounds with modern technology, make this concert a truly unique experience both visually and aurally.

4. Ski Mask The Slump God – Trix – 17 September

Ski Mask The Slump God is set to bring his distinctive style to Trix in September. The Florida-born rapper has quickly pushed the boundaries of hip-hop with his dexterity and rhythmic unpredictability. With five platinum-selling singles, including ‘Catch Me Outside’ and ‘Foot Fungus,’ and collaborations with XXXTentacion, Lil Yachty, and Denzel Curry, he has carved out a unique niche in the US rap scene. This is a not-to-be-missed concert for all hip-hop fans!

5. THE THE – Ancienne Belgique – 19 September / De Roma – 21 September

THE THE, led by Matt Johnson, will bring their powerful, introspective alternative rock to Ancienne Belgique and De Roma. The singer will be launching his “Ensouled World Tour” in 2024, featuring a blend of new wave, rock, blues, soul, and more. Whether at the Ancienne Belgique or De Roma, you can expect a concert that combines classic hits with poignant new material, creating an experience that’s both reflective and energizing.

6. Moby – Sportpaleis – 21 September

Do we even need to introduce Moby? The legendary producer is heading to Antwerp on the last day of summer to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his iconic album Play, still the best-selling electronic record of all time! After a decade away from the live stage, his concert at the Sportpaleis promises to be one of the month’s absolute highlights.

7. The Dandy Warhols and The Black Angels – La Madeleine – 22 September

La Madeleine will be hosting an exceptional line-up featuring two of the biggest names in psychedelic rock: The Dandy Warhols and The Black Angels. The Dandy Warhols will bring their signature mix of psych-rock, shoegaze, power pop, and synth-pop, while The Black Angels will offer a psychedelic experience filled with intriguing sounds and textures. Together, they promise a captivating evening, making this a must-see event for fans of the genre.

8. Joe Jackson – Cirque Royal – 23 September / Forum Liege – 25 September / De Roma – 27 September

Joe Jackson makes not one, not two, but three stops in Belgium with his unique project, “The Two Rounds of Rackets Tour”, performing at Cirque Royal, Forum de Liège, and De Roma. This special concert is divided into two parts. In the first part, Jackson reflects on his rich solo career, performing a selection of his most iconic songs. In the second, joined by musicians, he pays tribute to English music hall performer Max Champion with tracks from his latest album, What A Racket!

9. Northlane – Trix – 24 September

Renowned for their intense live shows and powerful sound, Northlane blend aggressive riffs with melodic elements, creating an atmosphere that is both dynamic and immersive. Joining them are two standout French acts in the genre: Novelists and Ten56. Together, they promise an explosive and unforgettable night of metalcore!

10. Our Last Night – Kavka Zappa – 24 September / Trix – 29 September

It’s fair to say Belgian fans have been eagerly awaiting Our Last Night’s return! In just a few weeks, the New Hampshire post-hardcore band sold out the Trix, leading to the addition of a second date at Kavka Zappa, just days before the Trix show. Joining them are Swedish band Normandie, who released the stellar Dopamine earlier this year, and Lifespark. For a few days, Antwerp will become the capital of post-hardcore.

11. Artemas – Trix – 25 September

For those unfamiliar with the name Artemas, you might recognize his viral hit ‘I Like the Way You Kiss Me,’ which TikTok catapulted into the spotlight! Despite only releasing his first track in 2020, the 24-year-old is already climbing the alternative pop charts. If you still doubt his rising stardom, consider this—his upcoming concert sold out in just over a month. Now, your best bet is to set your alarms on TicketSwap and hope for a chance to attend!

12. Guano Apes – Ancienne Belgique – 27 September

Anyone who’s ever been to a Guano Apes show knows exactly what to expect—the energy and ecstasy hit their peak from the opening notes of ‘You Can’t Stop Me,’ right through the classics, until the final chord of the encore ‘Lords of the Boards!’ Once again, the German heavy grunge band will give their all to an audience sure to revel in every moment of the performance.

13. Aurora – Forest National – 27 September

With four albums, an Oscar nomination, and a book under her belt, Aurora has achieved it all—and she’s not even 30! Her ethereal voice and atmospheric pop create an enchanting live experience that captivates every listener. With her latest album, the young artist opens a new chapter in her ever-evolving career. Aurora’s upcoming performance at Forest National promises to be a spellbinding event.

14. Puggy – Ancienne Belgique – 28 September

After a six-year hiatus from the live scene, 2023 marked the much-anticipated return of Brussels-based band Puggy. Following a sold-out concert last March, the three-piece is back for another performance on September 28! Fans can look forward to a mix of their greatest hits along with exciting new material, promising a night filled with feel-good tunes and dynamic live energy.

15. Melanie Martinez – Forest National – 29 September

Melanie Martinez is finally returning to Belgium! Her highly anticipated concert, originally scheduled for last year, was unfortunately canceled due to health issues. This time, we’re hoping for a smooth “Trilogy Tour”, featuring all of Melanie Martinez’s albums. With her captivating songs and innovative stage design, this show promises to be truly unforgettable and an absolute must-see!

This list represents only a portion of the vast selection available in Belgium and is also influenced by our own musical tastes.
