Nova Twins ready to unleash their new album in Wintercircus Club

After two years it was about time to welcome Nova Twins back in Belgium. This time they were more than ready to blow away Wintercircus Club in Ghent.

Hot Shock debut: balancing raw live energy with moments of vulnerability

8.15pm sharp and HotWax is ready to take on Wintercircus Club for the first time in their existance as a band, excited to present their debut album Hot Shock.
They started off with an instrumental intro followed by the song ‘She’s Got A Problem’.

It got bit groovy on the next songs ‘Rip It Out‘ and ‘Tell Me Everything’s Alright’. The latter was a brand new song that got released in the beginning of summer.
For the next song it was ‘Strange to Be Here’ as this one ended in an unexpected, yet powerful scream.

The band shifted gears with ‘Chip My Teeth for You‘ which brought a change of pace all throughout the song, ending in an instrumental melancholy.

After 30 minutes the band gave us ‘One More Reason’ to prove they were a perfect fit to support Nova Twins on their Parasites & Butterflies tour.

Psychedelic start of the weekend with Nova Twins

The stage got fully decorated with flowers and butterflies before Nova Twins got on stage!

The first notes of ‘Black Roses’ got the audience shouting and clapping.
This new song, residing on the new album Parasites & Butterflies, immediately showcased the unique vocal sound of vocalist Amy Love featuring some unexpected dolphin screams – yes this band pride themselves on creating their own sound effects.

After treating us with some new songs they took us 3 years back in time with the song ‘Cleopatra’. Amy put her guitar aside for the occasion to enable herself for more interaction with the audience during the rap session. Every woman in the room was shouting with her “I’m a boss bitch! I’m Cleopatra!”.

With sirens wailing in the distance the ‘Taxi’ got us back to 2025 and got the party really started.
Just in time, before it got bit more dirty with Amy acting like a bad bitch for the song ‘Soprano’.
Next, she switched her microphone for a rockabilly microphone and took us on a journey off to a ‘Parallel Universe’. The rockabilly microphone clearly gave this song an extra dimension, even more so when out of the blue she started screaming in it!

“What’s the name, bitch?” Is how they announced the next party anthem ‘N.O.V.A‘ which got interactive with everyone chanting along. On the tunes of a phone buzzing, the song ‘K.M.B.’ started. This one was, I quote Amy, “for the shitty ex partners”.

It got bit dirtier again when ‘Drip’ started with a challenging rap before it exploded into a full psychedelic Drum and Bass song, which was epic!

Round one, fight! Luckily, we were not asked to ‘Choose Your Fighter’ as this song got both ladies off stage, hitting their strings in the very center of Wintercircus Club.

Everyone was relieved this was not the end of the party yet…
Perfectly matched with the decor filled with flowers, the next song ‘Hummingbird‘ started with birds chirping followed by sharp clean vocals and psychedelic music, courtesy of bass player Georgia South and her hot hand wireless MIDI controller ring; a perfect apotheosis!

But they were not done yet. After a short break the band emerged back on stage for 3 more songs, starting off with a true party anthem that got all ‘Monsters’ off their feet.

Little side note: Big shoutout to the stagehand handing out the multiple guitars. I can’t put a number on it, but surely they liked switching (bass) guitars all throughout the set.

Seeing Nova Twins bringing their unique mix of grime, punk rock and electronic music was the perfect start of the weekend.
