Russian supremacy: Alex Terrible is back!

The concert everyone has been waiting for! After almost ten years, Russian kids of Darkness are returning to set the stage on fire in a sold-out Kavka Zappa, Antwerp.

Tuesday 30 January 2024, 8pm, the concert room is getting packed already just one hour before the concert starts. 9pm, the lights are being dimmed and the intro song is queued. Everyone is pumped to see Slaughter to Prevail coming on stage but the kids of Darkness take their time and test the crowd’s patience by giving them the full intro song… never seen that before!

Ten minutes in the wait was finally over, Slaughter to Prevail made his way on stage on the tunes of ‘Bonebreaker‘. From the first note you just knew this was going to be a great show!

As expected, most of the songs on tonight’s setlist resides on the newest album Kostolom which was released in 2019. ‘Bonebreaker‘ was easily followed up by ‘Agony‘, ‘Bratva‘ and ‘Made in Russia‘.

It was a surprise, yet not totally unexpected, that Alex Terrible, vocalist for Slaughter to Prevail took the time for a little speech about sending the right message to the world, in context of the war between Russia and Ukraine. He stated that he truly opposes the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is one of the reasons he couldn’t stay in his home country and decided to relocate to the USA.

Alex Terrible: “If you want to change the world, start with changing yourself. Have a good look at yourself in the mirror and see the problem in front of you. Be prepared to make compromises and be kind to others.”

After this remarkable speech it was time to hear their newest singles ‘1984‘ and ‘Viking‘ ; quickly followed by ‘I Killed A Man‘ and ‘Baba Yega‘.

But of course, the song everyone was waiting for: ‘Demolisher‘. This song represents best what the band stands for: unrelentless, bone-shattering music topped of with the most evil and brutal gutturals from hell.

To conclude this night of Darkness they chose to play one of their older songs, from the album Chapters of Misery which was released in 2016: ‘Hell‘ was the perfect choice for the fans who have been with them for years (including us).
