The Ghost Inside Searching for Solace in Brussels

This Sunday night people of all ages were gathering in Ancienne Belgique in Brussels to see the legends in The Ghost Inside live on stage! This was the Californians’ third appearance at the AB, but their first as headliners.

First up on the lineup was Boundaries, ready to present their new album Death Is Little More. They opened with a couple of new songs ‘A Pale Light Lingers‘ and ‘Darkness Shared‘. The latter was a build up of breakdowns, igniting the first mosh pits of the night. The pace picked up for the next song ‘Is Survived By‘ which allowed for some good old 2-stepping.

Moving on with a more technical melodic song ‘Realize and Rebuild‘ which even led to a clean vocal part, resembling those that the band Being As An Ocean is worldwide famous for. One of my favorite songs on this setlist, no doubt! People got running in circles when the first notes hit from ‘Cursed to Remember‘. Last song tonight ‘Easily Erased‘ , another track from the new album, was the song by exception where drummer Brent Fordham endulged us once again with his beautiful clean vocals.

Get your Gideon groove on baby!

Next up was Gideon, and they wasted no time getting the crowd moving with the first song, ‘BITE DOWN.‘ They went on with couple of songs from their latest album, including the title track ‘MORE POWER. MORE PAIN‘. The mosh kids clearly wanted to show that they were not afraid of a little pain as the room was split in half and a wall of death was about to go down. The people that were standing on the side were cheering “MORE POWER. MORE PAIN”!

When ‘TAKE ME‘ kicked in, it was the perfect signal crowdsurfing. Longtime fans were getting hyped when singer Daniel McWhorter announced the next song was going to be ‘Cursed‘. Time for one last banger ‘No Love/No One‘ before they left.

The legends who have risen from the ashes

The moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived—The Ghost Inside was ready to hit the stage! As soon as the first notes of their new song ‘Death Grip‘ hit, the mosh pit came alive. The band was in Belgium to showcase their new album Searching for Solace, and they continued the set with another new song ‘Earn It‘.

Hardcore fans who have been following The Ghost Inside all these years were getting their throats warmed up to sing along on the classic ‘Dear Youth (Day 52)‘. After having a throwback to 2014 it was time to return to present day with a couple of new songs such as ‘Split‘ and ‘Secret‘. The sounding of bells was a perfect way to announce the next song ‘Mercy‘.

They then took us further back in time with good old classics like ‘Faith or Forgiveness‘ and ‘Between the Lines.‘ The room quieted as vocalist Jonathan Vigil introduced ‘Aftermath,’ stating this song was all about getting second chances, marking their emotional comeback after and the first song they released after the catastrophic bus crash in 2020. The night in Ancienne Belgique came to an epic close with the powerful notes of ‘Engine 45.

As for me, I want to conclude this report with the uplifting lyrics by the band:

“Today I woke up to a brand new me, I know I can’t rewrite history. Yesterday is gone and I’m ready for what tomorrow brings”

“Yesterday is gone but the beat goes on”

See you next time!
