The British Metalcore band Oceans Ate Alaska released their new song ‘Endless Hollow‘ and new music video a few days ago, but that’s not all!! Together with the announcement of their new song they released a statement on their instagram page announcing BIG changes.
The bands statement on instagram:
Most of you have already guessed it, but we would like to give @joel_heywood the biggest and warmest welcome possible! ✌🏻 Joel is a great friend of the band, an incredibly talented and hardworking vocalist, and will be joining Oceans full time from here on out! Parting ways with James, Adam, and also Fearless Records was a very tough decision to make, but we hope this change has the most positive outcome possible for past and present members. Despite what some people may think, we have nothing but love for James and Adam! We wish them both happiness, health and good luck in their future endeavours. We will always appreciate all of the hard work they put into OAA over the years!
.
We hope you all love the new track, and hopefully we can catch you at a show this month! Peace and love to you all ❤️
Departures and new arrival
From now on, Joel Heywood is the current vocalist of Oceans Ate Alaska, replacing James Harrison who quit the band just a few days ago before the release of their new single, ‘Endless Hollow‘. This is Harrison’s second departure from the band. The first time James quit the band was in 2017, after the release of their second album, Hikari. He cited various reasons for his departure on his socials the day before the release of ‘Endless Hollow‘, such as business malpractice, unethical greed, and toxic masculinity within the band. He also claimed that he and Adam were kept in the dark about the band’s decisions and plans. He expressed his disappointment and frustration in a lengthy statement on his social media.
Adam Zytkiewicz also left the band at the same time as James Harrison, but hasn’t released any statement yet.
Fearless Records
Oceans Ate Alaska also announced they parted ways with their music label Fearless Records. For the moment, the band hasn’t announced that it has signed with a new music label.
The band is currently on tour with Currents on the Death We Seek European/UK tour. They will play in a sold-out Kavka Zappa in Antwerp on February 23.
