Alcatraz had one final surprise for metal fans. The festival just announced that the legendary Gene Simmons, former bassist and co-founder of KISS, is coming to the holy ground of Alcatraz Open Air on August 11 with his Gene Simmons Band! It seems like Gene Simmons wasn’t about to say goodbye to the spotlight for long. This news comes only a few month after KISS‘s farewell tour that ended in December 2023. It’s not the first time that Gene hits the road with his solo project, performing gigs in North America, Europe and Australia.
On another (sad) note, the American grindcoreband Pig Destroyer is forced to cancel their appearance at Alcatraz, but don’t be sad: the festival already found a worthy replacement: Sylosis.
