6arelyhuman in concert: when the emo party happens at the Botanique !

The new generation scene came together on November 25 2024 with 6arelyhuman, Hubithekid and the surprise guest Vyzer at the Botanique !

Hubithekid : A Trip Through the 2000’s Nostalgia

First to step on stage as opener that evening, Polish musician and producer Hubithekid had the arduous task of warming up the shy crowd and breaking the ice. Ranked 12th among the most-followed electro artists on Spotify in Poland, the young artist made his mark in the past by representing his country at the 13th edition of The Song contest with his track ‘Emo Makeup‘, before embarking on a more international career. Now recognized within the scenecore thanks to his unique sounds blending hyperpop and EDM drawing on the emo aesthetic of the 2000s, Hubithekid continues to captivate a community eager for novelty.

Right from the start, Hubithekid began his show before gradually transforming the room into an underground club for the arrival of 6arelyhuman. To bring this energy, he mainly played songs from his new album #HUBICORE. Despite Hubithekid‘s pleasant performance, I sometimes had the feeling that he seemed to lack confidence. It’s something that didn’t really upset the bouncing, party-ready front row during the concert. What I thought was a bit of a disappointment was that the DJ in the back appeared to limit the artist’s actions by playing track after track without pause, which left Hubithekid little room to interact with the audience even if it seems he wanted to. Despite this, I think his performance was totally worth the detour for any fans of new emerging hyperpop artists !

6arelyhuman: The Icon of Today’s Emo Scene!

As someone who’s been a fan of the emo scene since a very young age, I was looking forward to seeing what the new generation had in store for us at this 6arelyhuman concert. In a way, this concert stood out from what I usually know, since both artists – Hubithekid and 6arelyhuman – have mainly made their name through social media!

As for many other independent artists, it was above all the social network TikTok that brought 6arelyhuman to the forefront. By maximizing his online presence with a steady output of hyperpop tracks reminiscent of 2000s emo nostalgia, and labeling himself as a representative of the ‘sassy scene’, he quickly caught the attention of alternative audiences on the net. At the same time, his multiple collaborations and social circle were also the key to his success. By hanging out with some of the most influential alternative tiktokers in the U.S., and by making one featuring after another, he was able to strengthen his profile among a young, committed audience.

6arelyhuman embodies this new facet of personalities who emerge rapidly from one day to the next. Whether you like it or not, in addition to meeting the rising demands of a younger audience, it’s also one of the most effective ways of making a name for yourself. All this helps to highlight underground artists such as 6arelyhuman who, thanks to their distinctive identities, striking looks and the fact that they are defying norms, are above all in touch with the current times ! And all this can be felt at the concert, where phones, digital cameras and even polaroid cameras become the evening’s main accessory. All for the sake of being scene (or seen), I suppose.

6arelyhuman’s arrival: when the rave begins

Once on stage, 6arelyhuman took up the challenge and turned the room into a real party where the emo vibe was omnipresent. The front row, against all expectations, was shouting the lyrics. From the artist’s lesser-known sounds such as ‘Born To Rave‘ and ‘Bimbo Suicide‘, to the most predominant tracks on tiktok: ‘Hands Up!‘ and ‘Faster n Harder!‘ As most of the songs were quite similar, the audience couldn’t catch a break. At first glance, you can tell that the artist’s community is pretty tight-knit, and in a way this is how he gets support. What really stood out for me at the Botanique show were the lighting effects, which not only were perfectly synchronized with the songs, but also totally immersed us in an atmosphere worthy of a gigantic club night.

However, there were moments when 6arelyhuman’s vocals struggled to stand out against the overpowering backing tracks. But I don’t think this minor drawback matters too much, since the audience weren’t really there for a proper vocal performance, but were rather present to party and share this moment of common energy. After all, that’s all part of the musical style. As for the audience, I found them more than respectful, and everyone was able to enjoy their sassy moment !

The evening got even more exciting with a surprise announcement! Exclusively reserved for the Belgian public, we were greeted by the unexpected arrival of the Australian artist Vyzer! Usually, Vyzer‘s style is more in the new wave / hyperpop vein. Here, it was very briefly perceptible, but correctly brought out during the two artists’ new featuring ‘LUV ME’.

There is obviously a gap between the images of artists we see on social media and their performance in front of a real audience. Combined with the fact that their careers can reach the longevity of an autumn leaf, the gamble of an European tour could have been quite risky. But the risk paid off ! All in all, I’m delighted to see that the emo scene is in a way persisting and still evolving in spite of the passing years. It was a real pleasure to see a new generation of people blossoming in these new spaces ! It’ll be exciting to see how far this phenomenon can grow and spread in the coming years.
