Set It Off turned Trix in one big carnival!

Sadly, the band Call Me Amour had to cancel their show because vocalist Harry Radford last-minute got ill. Nevertheless we still had hope for a great night with 3 amazing bands on stage at Trix, Antwerp.

The Sunday Sadness on a Happy Tuesday

Let’s start with a little introduction for those that have never heard of TSS before.
TSS (formerly known as The Sunday Sadness) is a French band known for their innovative blend of emo, metalcore and synthwave and mixing French and English lyrics in their songs.

After a sweet introduction the the band started in French on the song ‘Would you be my therapy?‘ which definitely set the tone for the night! Moving on with ‘DEAD!‘ which started out slow but got heavier as the song progressed, leading up to the first breakdown!

The party really started with the next song ‘Fantasize‘ which started with French rap, exploding in party music which got everyone jumping up and down. With the song ‘KILLING ME‘ they totally killed it, showcasing all they got: beautiful clean vocals, powerful screams, breakdowns and impeccable blend of French and English lyrics. To top it of, they concluded their set with 2 unreleased songs.

What’s the point? Point North

After a short formal band introduction the American band hailing from Los Angeles, California kicked off with their newest release ‘WORLD vs PEACE‘ which got released end of last year.
Like a Weapon‘ started with everyone clapping and further down the set ‘Into the Dark‘ got everyone jumping.

Point North decided the fans could handle a bit heavier music when they unleashed ‘Bring Me Down‘.
As a surprise, Cody Carson who is the vocalist for Set It Off made an early appearance on stage to join Point North for their song ‘Below The Belt‘. As soon as Cody appeared on stage the fans started shouting in excitement.

John Lundin, vocalist of Point North took the opportunity to dedicate the song ‘Ghost in My Home‘ to the couple fans that have been with them for years. Also remarkable was the impeccable guitar solo by Eric Barnett. Eric also has a great vocal range which he demonstrated in the song ‘Safe And Sound‘ where he nailed the part of Jonathan Vigil who featured on this song.

The jester welcomes you to the carnival!

After being the support act for I Prevail last year, Set It Off returned to Europe for their own headline tour. After some minor technical issues the concert started with an unusual countdown. The party started immediately when the guys in Set It Off came on stage.

First song ‘Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing‘ got everyone off their feet and singing along to the chorus “Listen, mark my words, one day (one day). You will pay, you will pay. Karma’s gonna come collect your debt”. Amazing to see the many explicit expressions on Cody Carson his face.

Cody was in awe seeing how the fans took charge singing the first strophes for the perfect post valentine song ‘The Haunting‘, which ended with a haunting, evil joker smile.
Moving on with a little singing class with Cody as he was putting a spell on us as if he was ‘Creating Monsters‘.

After leaving the stage for a short minute they continued act 2 with ‘Kill the Lights‘ till at some point during the song Cody out of the blue yelled “Hold!” to check if everyone was ready to lose their minds in dancing and singing!

Time to slow down a bit with the next song ‘Lonely Dance‘ which was all about finding virtue in spending the evening at home alone, doing whatever you like as reflected in the lyrics “All I need is me, myself, and I (One step forward, one step backwards). All I need is peace and quiet, that’s better”.
I am sure a quiet night is not what people came looking for in Trix tonight!

Cody was clearly having fun seeing how he got us all ‘Hypnotized‘. The song featured a bit of rap music and backing vocals by both guitarist Zach DeWall and drummer Maxx Danzinger. Taking it back in time with an older song called ‘I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead‘ which got released more than 10 years ago. For this song Cody wanted to throw a little curve ball and switched places with drummer Zach.

I mentioned earlier that a mosh pit was unexpected right? Well, they even wanted crazier and asked for a wall of death to start the song ‘Win Win‘. The rap skills on this song were just sublime! After a small pep talk about normalizing personal struggles and the inner battles we have to combat, the song ‘Killer in the Mirror‘ hit off. Their set was concluded with ‘Why Worry‘ , the song that was a huge break through for the band.

Not long after they disappeared off stage, the band reappeared on stage for one final song called ‘Punching Bag‘. At a slower pace than usual they left the stage, dancing the night away on the tunes of ‘You’re Welcome‘ , performed by Dwayne Johnson for the Disney movie Moana.

All they wanted was for everyone to go home with a memory. I dare to say that everyone went home with a fond memory of another amazing night!
