Pop punk Sunday or maybe something different?

Slowly, Slowly

Opener this night was Slowly Slowly from Melbourne, Australia. The room was surprisingly full already when they came on stage.

It was immediately clear that this band had a lot of energy to give and Benjamin Stewart, vocalist of the band had amazing vocals.  Not sure about Europe but I’m sure they made a name already in Melbourne.

Setlist: Daisy Chain – Love Letters – Nothing On – Gimme the Wrench – Forgiving Spree – All Time – Longshot – Blueprint

Power women in pop punk

Support act this evening was Honey Revenge, a pop punk band hailing from California, USA. The crowd got pumped up when the first notes of ‘Rerun‘ hit. Honey Revenge also took the opportunity to share some new songs with us, such as ‘Medicine‘.

For one of their next songs vocalist Devin Papadol got so excited that she didn’t hesitate to join her fans off stage. They clearly liked it as it burst out in a friendly little moshpit. To conclude their performance Devin asked ‘Are You Impressed?‘ and I for sure could acknowledge that!

Setlist:  Seeing Negative (Disappointment) – Recipe for Disaster – Rerun – Medicine – Sensitive – Worst Apology – Murphy’s Law – Habitual – Distracted – Are You Impressed? – Airhead

Stand Atlantic

As we were all looking forward to the headliner, the room of Kavka Oudaan was getting even more packed. The energy in the crowd got cranked up a notch as soon as Stand Atlantic came on stage. Stand Atlantic kicked off with some heavier songs from their new album WAS HERE. Let me tell you, I didn’t expect this to happen tonight!

WARZONE‘ was a beautiful blend of clean vocals, screams and even some rap. Is there anything vocalist Bonnie Fraser can’t do? Time to slow it down a bit with some more traditional pop punk songs such as ‘KISSIN’ KILLER COBRAS‘ and ‘KILL[H]ER‘. ‘SEX ON THE BEACH‘ clearly was a fan favorite as everyone got jumping and dancing on the groovy tunes of this fantastic pop punk – electro blend.

Back to pop punk roots with songs as  ‘Lavender Bones‘ and ‘Hate Me (Sometimes)‘. After some old school pop punk dancing they got the whole room silent with their acoustic rendition of ‘Toothpick‘, blended perfectly with ‘Drops of Jupiter’ by the band Train. Moving on smoothly to a love song which is rather rare for this band, as stated clearly by Bonnie herself.

At some point in the set she asked someone, presumably a crew member, on stage. The lucky girl jumped off stage and made her way surfing over the crowd all around the room, lasting for almost the whole song. We have been lucky to have seen some walls of death already tonight, again big surprise, but the song ‘dumb‘ produced the biggest one spreading all the way to the back.

Of course, one of the newer songs ‘CRIMINAL‘ couldn’t be missing in this set. If you were paying attention you could hear the voice of Polaris‘ vocalist Jamie Hails on the backtrack. For the last song titled ‘GIRL$‘, Bonnie asked her friend Devin to join her on stage. Australian women power! This was an amazing end of another fun night. After little more than 1 hour, Stand Atlantic left the stage with a big smile on their face on the tunes of ‘We Like To Party! (The Vengabus)‘ by Vengaboys

Setlist: WAKE UP-SIT DOWN-SHUT UP – hair out – Jurassic Park – WARZONE – KISSIN’ KILLER COBRAS – switchblade – Blurry – KILL[H]ER – SEX ON THE BEACH – Lavender Bones – Hate Me (Sometimes) – Toothpick – LOVE U ANYWAY – NOSE BLEED – pity party – dumb – CRIMINAL – deathwish – Coffee at Midnight – GIRL$
